Ecoat, also known as ecoating or electrocoating, is the most preferred coating process in the automobile or transport industry.

E-coat
What exactly is ecoat? Ecoat is an epoxy primer, whereas parts are hooked onto a conveyor line and go through a 15-tank immersion process. Ecoating offers complete coverage of the part, interior as well as exterior. Used for either aluminium of steel, e-coat is a very economical coating option, which will result in an even and very thin coating (between 0.8 and 1 mil).

Ecoat may be used a sole coating, or may be followed by an application of electrostatic powder coating for increased protection against corrosion. Offered only in black, e-coat is the ideal solution to protect parts with sharp edges or with recessed areas.

Sixpro’s electrocoating (ecoat) system uses PPG’s Powercron 6000 ecoat, a product approved by major OEMs such as Paccar, Chrysler, Nissan and Komatsu, to name only a few.
